19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.
The player's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
